Eva Bartlett on Syrian Presidental Elections, 2014, 2021

(Facebook commentary)
This terrorist was not elected, he appointed himself president (and also isn’t even eligible: aside from being a wanted al-Qaeda & ISIS terrorist, he wasn’t even born in Syria).
Bashar al-Assad was elected in the 2014 & 2021 elections.
In 2014, I was in Beirut, having just left Syria & waiting for a journalist visa. Consequently, when the Syrian embassy opened for elections in Lebanon, I went & saw for myself the masses of Syrians there to vote for Bashar al-Assad. Western media was calling the elections in Syria sham, claiming people were “forced” to vote (they weren’t, they voted in spite of the terrorist groups increasing their shelling of areas under the control of the Syrian government).
The embassy in Beirut had to stay open an unplanned extra five hours (until midnight instead of 7 pm) because of the huge number of Syrians wanting to vote in Lebanon. The embassy opened for a 2nd unscheduled day for voters.
In 2021, I went to Damascus during the leadup to the election, election day & after. The mood was electric, people were in the streets, clogging the streets, celebrating.
No one will **ever** convince me Syrians voted for President Assad because they were “forced”.
